Every day offers new opportunities for growth and discovery. In our Pre-school Room, children engage in a variety of activities designed to cover all aspects of the curriculum. They are introduced to foundational skills in reading, writing, mathematics, and science. These activities are presented in an engaging and relaxed way, fostering natural learning through play. Each child is supported to progress at their own pace, tailored to their unique abilities.

PRE-SCHOOL ROOM ACTIVITIES

Children in the Pre-school Room can enjoy activities similar to those offered for children under three, but these are more structured and age-appropriate to suit their developmental stage.

CURRICULUM FOR EXCELLENCE

The Curriculum for Excellence (ages 3 to 18), developed through a collaboration involving the Scottish Government, Learning and Teaching Scotland, the Scottish Qualifications Authority, and HM Inspectorate of Education, ensures that pre-schoolers’ developmental needs are met. It focuses on fostering learning through high-quality play in a supportive, relaxed environment.

There are eight areas of the curriculum:

  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Language and Literacy
  • Mathematics and Numeracy
  • Expressive Arts
  • Religious and Moral Education
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Technology

Literacy and numeracy are embedded throughout the playroom allowing your child to develop early literacy and numeracy skills in preparation for more formal learning in Primary 1.
