THE CURIOSITY APPROACH®
Be Curious, Have Fun, Make a Difference!

At our childcare, we embrace a contemporary philosophy inspired by the Curiosity Approach, which blends expertise, enthusiasm, and a deep commitment to early childhood development. The founders liken it to a carefully crafted recipe, combining thoughtfully selected elements to nurture young minds.
When you step into our centre, you’ll notice a departure from traditional settings. Instead of vibrant, colourful walls, we prioritise a serene, natural environment. By incorporating wooden materials and organic resources, we create a calming space that encourages exploration and growth.
Our approach is grounded in the belief that overly bright settings can overwhelm young children. Research supporting the Curiosity Approach reinforces this, highlighting the benefits of a more neutral, natural environment for fostering focus and creativity.
Lyndsey Hellen, a pioneer of the Curiosity Approach, emphasises the value of natural materials: “Plastic toys often lack variety in texture and scent, and their bold colours can be overstimulating. By using open-ended, recycled, and natural resources, we introduce diverse textures and aromas that spark curiosity and ignite a sense of wonder in children.”

At Hoodles Childcare, we believe that the Curiosity Approach will help your child develop:
- Independent thinking
- Strong non-verbal communication
- Effective verbal communication
- Problem-solving and risk assessment skills
- A love of lifelong learning
- A creative imagination
- Respect for resources and the natural world
- Creative and critical thinking
‘Curiosity is the desire to learn. Babies are born learners, with a natural curiosity to figure out how the world works. Early Childhood Educators have a responsibility to give children the confidence to develop their own theories about our incredible world.’
